Aaliyah Dana Haughton exploded into the limelight in 1994 when she released her debut Album Age Ain't nothing but A number. The album, released when she only had fifteen years old was certified Gold. It was done as part of a group that was greatly inspired by R. Kelly and it brought her into the spotlight. In 1996, she collaborated with Jermaine Dpri and Timbaland in her sophomore studio album One In A Million, which featured the #1 hit track If Your Girl Only knew. After the debut of the album Aaliyah received international recognition as an R&B artist. In 2000, she appeared in the romantic action film Romeo Must Die alongside martial artist Jet-Li. Joel Silver, film producer and director of the film Romeo Must Die, spotted her at an awards ceremony. In 2002 she had the opportunity to play the horror film Queen of the Damned which was inspired by The Anne Rice novel. In 2003, she was on screen in The Matrix Reloaded and The Matrix Revolutions. She received four nominations for the Grammy Awards, including 1999, 2001 and 2002. Aarti Mann.....................Aarti Mann also known as Aarti Majumdar is an American actor who is best known for her portrayal of Priya Koothrappali in the popular TV series The Big Bang Theory. The actress is the first Indian American to be born in Connecticut. Mann is a contraction of her husband's first name Mankad. But, she has both Aarti Mann as well as Aarti Majumdar for professional names. While she started out with small TV and movie roles, her acting started to gain momentum around the turn of the century. Her other noteworthy works comprise Leverage 2012, Suits 2013, and Grey's Anatomy 2017. The commercials she has done have been for prominent brands like Volvo. Her daughter is a resident of Los Angeles and is pursuing her acting.
