April Ross

April Ross is one of just a handful of female beach volleyball stars to capture medals at multiple Olympics. Ross is scheduled to compete in Tokyo for her third Olympic medal along with Alix Klineman, who is a first time Olympian. Ross's objective is her first Olympic Gold. Ross and Klineman began their relationship in 2017 but Ross had been a major participant on the beach for quite a while before. In fact, she's been an active player in the world of beach volleyball for many years. Actually, she took home several titles, and even one with a legendary volleyball star. Between 2007 and 2013, she was working by Jennifer Kessy, who is now her coach. Kessy as well as Ross proved to be strong on the world of professional sports, winning an overall world title in 2009. The duo were awarded silver medals at the London Olympics. They were knocked out of the gold by the storied team of Misty May-Treanor and Kerri Walsh (Jennings). Ross became Walsh Jennings new partner after May-Treanor's departure. In 2016, the pair took bronze at the Rio Olympics for beach volleyball. Ross was part of the Trojans of USC in her college years after she graduated high school. Her time at USC was exceptional. It was her time to be an All-American as well as Pac-10 Freshman of Year in the year 2000. Her Trojans were also able to make it to the Final Four. In her sophomore season, she experienced a terrible personal loss and still was capable of being selected as an All-American. The two seasons she spent with the Trojans she was instrumental in helping them win consecutive championships. In her own way Ross established her status as a legend when she won the Honda Sports Award for 2003-04. This award was given to the most outstanding female player from the United States. Ross studied the field of international relations in USC. Margie Ross never saw her daughter achieve the heights of the beach volleyball world. Ross suffered the loss of the breast cancer that she battled in 2001. Ross was then a sophomore. Ross is still awed by her parents who passed away. Margie remains an inspiration at the beach, and throughout her life.
